Birth Sisters practicing comfort measures for labor & birth

A long time ago if you were pregnant, your sister or someone from your community would be the person to help you have your baby. She would understand you, not judge you and help you make the best possible decisions for YOU.

A Birth Sister is a professional who is trained in childbirth education, labor support and postpartum care. She holds your hand through this journey. She listens to you, respects you, advocates for you and trusts you.

Having continuous support during labor and birth may lead to:

  • a decrease in the risk of cesarean delivery

  • an increase in the likelihood of a vaginal delivery

  • a decrease in the use of pain medication and epidurals

  • shorter labors

  • Increased satisfaction with the experience
