Cierra Edmunds Growing up in a single mother household, I have always admired the strength of women and mothers. And it is through my childhood that I developed my love to nurture and support others.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies and all throughout my life I have found myself assisting in the growth and nurturing of  infants, toddlers, and children. For 3 years I have worked with families, anticipating new life and wondering what their birth may be like. I provide prenatal and childbirth education and support families through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. It is through my work that I have been inspired to become a doula and continue supporting mothers/ families before, during, and after childbirth. I am dedicated to continue gaining knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding as I believe knowledge is key to deciding what birth experience is desired and dependable support is key to achieving that desired birth experience.

Selena Crozart O Shaughnessy I grew up in Philadelphia, came to Charlottesville for school, and never left. I am the youngest of three girls and between my two sisters, I have 10 nieces and nephews. I have always valued my relationship and role with my sisters as a helper and advocate. I bring that to my doula work. I want to amplify the goals of the mom I am working with and provide her with the information she needs to confidently choose what she wants in her birth experience. I am an educator with 20+ years experience in K-12, collegiate, private sector, and community settings. I am also a trained personal coach and natural family planning instructor. My love of education and advocacy have served well in my work as a birth sister. For my main daytime gig, I am a facilitator and trainer who specializes in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  You may see me around town with my service dog, my sweet Cockapoo named Indigo. When I’m not working, I enjoy singing, knitting, working out, cooking, and pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
